Students at CTECH

Career and Technical Education Center at Heintz (CTECH) is a dynamic collaboration between Rochester Public Schools, Rochester Community and Technical College, and our professional community. CTECH offers inspiring hands-on programs, combining rigorous coursework with project based learning in a collaborative setting for students who want to gain a deep understanding of, and actively participate in, high demand professions.

BE INSPIRED

A real world setting inspires students to see the relevance of what they are learning in a field of interest to them. 21st century skills - collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving - are acquired through experiential learning.

BE CHALLENGED

Guest instructors, 1:1 mentors, internship opportunities, preparation for industry certification, and professional community partnerships are a focus of class time. The programs are designed to strategically position students with a competitive edge for college applications and career pathways.

BE EMPOWERED

Students can earn college credit in many of the courses at CTECH. CTECH courses are articulated with local community and technical colleges. Students that complete Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses are eligible for college credits from select post secondary institutions.

Students can prepare for industry certification. CTECH courses within Health Sciences prepare students for such exams as the Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aid, and National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Students completing courses in the Hospitality Pathway will be introduced to the requirements for ServSafe and will have the option to enroll in ServSafe training and certification.
